Solar Power Purchase Agreement w/ Psomas FMG

On October 5, 2010, the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PsomasFMG. Pursuant to the PPA, PsomasFMG will install solar systems that will generate approximately 3.4 megawatts (MW) of electricity and be sold to the County over the twenty year term of the PPA.

The systems will be installed on rooftops, as shade structures over parking areas, or as ground-mounted panels.

The installations will be developed at no cost to the County and PsomasFMG will be responsible for all financing, construction, operations and maintenance costs.

Projected Benefits:

  1. $4.4 Million in electricity cost avoidance for the County
  2. Job creation
  3. Carbon dioxide offsets

The County locations selected for solar installations are:

  1. 1250—1300 S. Grand Ave, Buildings A, B, and C (County Operations Center)
  2. 800-840 N. Eckhoff (SSA and Sheriff’s Communications)
  3. 1900 W. Katella (Sheriff’s Training Facility)
  4. 13502 Musick Honor Farm Road (James A. Musick Facility)
  5. 2023 W. Collins Ave, Buildings A and B (County CNG Fueling Facility)

Construction is slated to begin February 2012 with the first sites operational by spring.
